This was so much fun to build! It took me about five hours and punching out the pieces was easy. I only broke one piece (the wishbone-looking thing for the robot's head) but luckily there was an extra :) The T-pieces are the only parts I had trouble fitting together, but they can take more abuse than the component pieces.
I'm putting my Rover in my office cubicle. I want to buy the musical robot next, but I'm also looking at the clocks... Puralty, take my money!
Bought this as a gift for my boyfriend. He literally stayed up all night putting it together. Woke up to look at it this morning and it looks fascinating. He loved putting it together and says it’s the coolest mode he has put together so far. When you put it under the sun,the vehicle will start moving.
I got this for my wife for Christmas. She loves puzzles and steam punk stuff. She's never put anything together like this though before. It took her about 6 hours to put together. She's stubborn, and had to finish it at one time. But she loves it!!! I will definitely purchase it again as a birthday present for her.
Everything about the packaging and shipping was perfect. Zero complaints. The actual craft is pretty neat once it’s done. The only issue I had is with the gear components at the top of the vehicle. The pieces didn’t quite fit together from the precut components so I had to deviate from directions a bit. No big deal and added to the challenge. There is some gluing required (glue came with) so keep “dry time” in mind when starting this.
My boyfriend loved assembling this! He even timed himself to see how fast he could build it! This time he took about 5 hours to complete the build, he had many ups and down while building the space rover but everything turns out fine. The space rover works and move under sunlight but not indoor lamp.Definitely great gift for those who love to build/put things together!
Even though I am half done with the vehicle,I would like to share my experiences on the assembling of the solar space explorer. I find that it was a bit challenging to fit the pieces together especially the smaller one, the pieces tend to be fragile and can break more easily if you try to force the pieces in. I will suggest one to be patience and handle each pieces with care. I am having so much fun right now. Hope my vehicle works under the sunlight:)
I got this as a Christmas present, and it took about 7 hours to build. You will need a cutter knife, and sandpaper so that the vehicle will move more smoothly.A lot of the pieces do force-fit together, and you have to be careful to not snap the smaller ones by accident.(if you do,there is some extra pieces in the box) The finished kit does look good, and the camera, hatch, and hatch protector do rotate a bit. The solar panel doesn't react to indoor lighting at all, but it's just fine in direct sunlight. Again, this is a novelty item, and is best placed on a shelf to show off to visitors.
My son is almost nine years old. He likes to innovate and explore renewable energy so I bought him this space rover. It is a little bit difficult for him to build it alone so his daddy helped. Both of them had great time. This solar vehicle can run under the sun.
The space rover works great. Not a difficult build. It is very fragile so I do not consider it a toy. More like art that moves. The box also comes with spare parts if something breaks. A very fun build that looks great!
