wow.. bought as a gift for my son who has degrees in Physics and Mechanical Engineering... He LOVED IT! It was a LOT more "challenging" than we had originally estimated and the result was a solid four hours of mental exercise. I am definitely going to purchase another, even more challenging Ugears model.
Fun and functional! Works great, very sturdy. Easy to medium difficulty, you must pay close attention to some steps, but overall, went together very easily. Instructions are pretty clear, not a lot of wording, mostly pictures (similar to plastic models). Very fun to put together, took me about a week to complete by having a couple of hours a day, so it could be put together in a day or two if you really wanted to. Never had any problems fitting pieces together, unless you try to put them in the wrong way. Pieces are cut into planks, some of the smaller pieces can be a little hard to pop out, but with a little patience you should be fine. Had a blast building it, already ordered the train. Might buy all of them!
You construct all the components first, then fit them into the final product. The pictorial directions were very clear. It was scary at times, especially the first time we had to push one of the toothpicks/axles through. It got easier as we got more experience. The tiny little wooden tool (included in the kit) for pushing the toothpicks and for measuring was a big help. Also, you DO have to wax the parts as the instructions advise. We used a votive candle (unlit). We were astounded and delighted when it all worked the first time. It works and looks exactly like the picture.
I bought this airplane model not knowing if it would work. After putting it together in a couple hours and seeing it spin ,I was so thrilled. I added wax to the gears and used a blow dryer to melt it in a little. The pictorial instruction can easily be followed and the only difficult thing I would say is that some parts have difficulty connecting it especially the small ones.
It is my first such kind of thing. I could easily mount the parts just following the pictures in the instructions booklet. I had been working for hours that I even forget about dinner. After the installation, you have to fine tune a bit. It simply works. It takes a bit longer to install than claimed in the instructions.
This was a gift and it was absolutely lovely. My boyfriend is still putting it together (so it’s taken about 10 hrs so far and it’s only approximately 60% complete). However, he’s sanding and waxing components to ensure that they move smoothly. He’s also cutting out each piece with an exact knife, as some pieces are rather small and he’s afraid they will break. Have bought multiple similar products before. My only complaint would be that there are no extra rubber bands and if one snaps you have to find a replacement.Overall,it is fun to see my boyfriend enjoy building it!
I haven’t started assembling it yet as I’m currently working on the other model. I love all of them. One thing I would like to mention is that some of the wooden fittings are too tight, even after lubrication so I would recommend you to sand it if you encounter the same issue as me.
I really loved the process in constructing this build and have fun building the product.Thank you for a great product and many hours of pleasure!
This was one of the most difficult models to build. take your time, sand and wax it well. this took a long time to build because I took my time to make sure all gears flow as they should at every step of this build. It runs very well and smooth as it should. It would be nice to have a few more extra parts that I feel are weak and may break in the future. (the connecting rod that attaches to the plane/helicopter. A few extra gears for the connector and plane etc..).The engineering is amazing. the designs are awesome. the finished product always works and looks great! I have built most of there older models and look forward to building more of this new line.
